Report Title: Post Holiday Study: Measuring Purchases, Returns and Gift Card Redemptions

Publication Date: 5/7/2010

Description: The winter holiday shopping season is an important time for retailers particularly CE retailers. Each year, CEA assesses how the holiday shopping season might fare in early September with the annual  CE Holiday Purchase Patterns study. That study revealed optimism for an economy mired in recession. But how did the holiday shopping season fare once all the gifts were opened (some of which were returned)? Did consumers follow-through on their spending on holiday gifts in general and on CE gifts in particular? CEA explores how the 2009 holiday season fared in the 2010 Post Holiday Study: Measuring Purchases, Returns and Gift Card Redemptions study. The findings are positive with total CE spending higher than originally expected.

This study will be of interest to anyone involved in retailing and marketing CE products.
